Client Goal & Project
A pharmaceutical company engaged SURUS Consultancy to assess the clinical impact of a cardiovascular drug on the continuum of care. The ultimate goal was to provide clinical support for a marketing strategy and to identify use cases and clinical users for the drug.
Our approach
We performed an automated, systematic search using SURUS to identify clinical trials and observational studies that evaluated the drug in comparison with the standard of care. Based on this data, we quantitatively analyzed the added clinical value of the drug of interest. In addition, six medical experts were interviewed to verify the hypotheses formulated in the secondary research and to assess the clinical relevance of the drug of interest.
Results
SURUS Consultancy identified 27 studies that investigated the drug of interest. The quantitative analysis revealed that the drug of interest is superior in regards to effect and impact on hemodynamic parameters. This was discussed with the medical experts resulting in an overview of cases when the drug is preferred over its competitors. This information will be used to draft marketing materials for the client team
